8 EASY, BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS TO INCREASE YOUR CURB APPEAL

Jacqueline Gage | September 5, 2019

It’s often said that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but let’s face it—sometimes, people do. When it comes to selling your home, a buyer’s first impression of your house is everything. Will they see it as charming, interesting, or in need of a spruce-up? Thankfully, you have the power to influence how buyers will receive your property—and it’s easier than you think!  On this episode of Sac N Gaged, I’m going to outline 8 tips to bring instant curb appeal to your home without breaking the bank. These simple changes can elevate your property from boring to dazzling and get it sold fast!

Tip #1: Add a fresh coat of paint to your entryway for instant eye-popping appeal.  The first thing a buyer is going to see when viewing your home is the front door. If your door is in good condition but just needs to be livened up, a bright color can completely transform the look of your house. Replacing the door completely is another option if it has seen a little too much wear.

Tip #2: A doormat matters. Along with your front door, a doormat will be one of the first things buyers will encounter when viewing your property. Ensuring it’s updated and fresh—and that the surrounding doorstep area is free of debris—will show that the house has been maintained and cared for and spark confidence in buyers when looking at the rest of the property.

Tip #3: Upgrade your mailbox. While it may seem like a small detail, a new mailbox is a budget-friendly improvement that will instantly boost curb appeal and can be purchased in a variety of basic or decorative styles.

Tip #4: Add a decorative wreath to your door.  Create a warm, inviting feel with this simple accent; you can find hundreds of ideas and directions online to make one yourself so you don’t have to spend a dime.

Tip #5: Install new house numbers. Like your mailbox, house numbers are a personal signature—the right ones can add to the overall look of your property and make it more appealing.

Tip #6: Enhance an outdoor porch with patio furniture. You want your buyers to envision living in your home; adding cozy pieces or even an area rug can help them envision relaxing moments in their new space.

Tip #7: Upgrade your lighting. These days, lighting is everything! A well-lit house will create a modern, fresh and inviting feeling and adds a great ambiance to your property once the sun goes down.

Tip #8: Fill some pots with flowers and plants. A group of succulents or colorful blooms will instantly bring color and life to your property and shoot that curb appeals core through the roof.

By implementing these simple, low-budget curb appeal ideas, you’ll be able to revitalize and refresh your property and attract more buyers who’ll want to get a better look at your home.
