Did you know that staged homes sell 5-6% more than non-staged homes—and in less time? Making your house showtime ready makes a world of difference when selling, and I’m here to tell you all about it! On this episode of Sac N Gaged, we’ll show you some examples, tips and tricks of how staging can transform your space into a place buyers will definitely want to live. Not only will you get you top dollar for you home, but you’ll find the right people to fall in love with your house just like you did.
It can be difficult to make your house show ready; you might love those old, tried-and-true furniture pieces that have held a special place in your home, but chances are that buyers won’t. You want to make your home look fresh, modern and put together for today’s style and preferences. Why is this so important? Because choosing which house to buy is an emotional decision, and you want your buyer to fall in love with your home!
Buyers need to visualize themselves living in a new space, and staging can bring this future to life. Since it’s such a huge life decision to make, a buyer will want to choose a space they absolutely love, not just like. If you’ve heard of “love at first sight,” the same concept applies when showing your home. When you buyer falls in love with your staged home at first sight, they’ll eagerly want to make an offer to make sure no one else gets their dream home. And that means a quicker sell and more money for you!
While all of this sounds great, you may be concerned about just how much it will cost to revamp your home into a staged beauty. While price depends on the home, it can make a huge difference in the look of a house. A 1-day, complete transformation might cost $3,000, but the payoffs in the long run—selling your home faster and for more money—are well worth the effort. If you’d prefer to DIY your staging instead of hiring a professional, there are a few tips and tricks that can make the process just as successful.
First, make sure to depersonalize your space. Family photos and personal belongings should be removed, which would make it a bit harder for prospective buyers to visualize themselves in the space. Second, you want to declutter your home. Make sure kitchen and bathroom countertops are clear of random items or accessories, and remove knickknacks and small decorations. Less is more! Third, do a deep cleaning of your home; hiring a professional will ensure that your home is spotless. Using these tops will make your house look its best and will definitely attract more buyers.
I hope these tips have helped you see why staging is so key to the best selling experience possible. Be sure to contact me if you want more information on how I stage my homes, and stay tuned for the next episode of Sac N Gaged for more tips on successful home selling!
